The Dolma Festival is an annual celebration of traditional Armenian cuisine. First held in 2011, the festival aims to preserve the famous Dolma, one of the most iconic dishes of Armenian culinary heritage. It also seeks to promote intangible cultural values through food, music, and folk dances, providing a unique experience for both local visitors and tourists.

During the 2011 festival, 20 skilled chefs competed for recognition as the best traditional Dolma maker. Various types of Dolma were presented, prepared using both historical ingredients and modern variations.


At the 2012 festival, 20 pavilions participated, 












each staffed by 3 to 4 people. Contestants presented their Dolma dishes to the jury and visitors, and the winner was honored with a unique pottery trophy for excellence in traditional cooking.

The festival is accompanied by Armenian folk songs and dances. Visitors have the opportunity to taste over 60 varieties of Dolma, stuffed with lamb, mushrooms, basturma, and other traditional ingredients, offering a rich experience of authentic Armenian flavors.

During the 2013 festival, the longest Dolma in the world was prepared, measuring 60 meters, creating a landmark event that amazed both visitors and participants.



The dish is also known by other names, such as Turma and Sarma, typically stuffed with grape leaves or vegetables, along with a mixture of rice and meat. Culinary dictionaries note that Dolma is a classic dish found in several countries influenced by historical conquests, though sources vary without scientific justification.

The origin of Dolma is linked to multiple countries, reflecting the wide spread and popularity of this distinctive traditional dish.
