What is North Avenue?
North Avenue (Hyusisayin Poghota) is a pedestrian street located in the heart of Yerevan. It connects Republic Square with the Opera House. The avenue is approximately 450 meters long and 27 meters wide, featuring luxury buildings, international brand stores, cafés, and restaurants.
History of North Avenue
The idea of building North Avenue dates back to 1924, when the architect Alexander Tamanian included it in his master plan for developing Yerevan. The avenue was originally planned to extend for 6.5 km, but the project was postponed during the Soviet era.
In 2000, the project was revived under the leadership of architect Narek Sargsyan. After government approval, construction began and the avenue was officially opened in 2007.

The avenue was built using natural stones such as basalt, granite, and tuff. It includes 11 mixed-use buildings (residential, commercial, and hotels), as well as underground parking facilities and the Tashir shopping center.
